Faxes

Faxes are fax services controlling how inbound/outbound fax communications are handled

Fax parameters

Fax Name

A descriptive name for this fax service

Extension

The extension number for this fax service

  • Must be unique within the domain

Default CallerID

What number will be shown for outbound faxes

Default Format

What format faxes should be stored and delivered in.

PDF

Faxes will be stored in Adobe PDF compatible format (default)

TIF

Faxes will be stored in their native TIF format.

Note

Outbound faxes in the outbox and sent folders will always be stored in fax-compatible TIF format

Destination Type

Where we will deliver inbound faxes to this service. Multiple destinations can be selected.

Mailbox

Faxes will be deposited in the mailbox

Email

Faxes will be delivered to the specified email address(es)

Fax Machine

Faxes will be stored in the mailbox and relayed to a fax machine via the automatically created fax user account

Destination Email

What email address(es) faxes should be sent to. This will include the fax as an attachment and may not be HIPAA compliant

  • Multiple email addresses can be separated by commas

  • Required when Email is selected as a destination type

Destination Mailbox

What mailbox will be used for storage and processing

self

A mailbox will be automatically created for the fax service using the pattern {extension}@{domain}

none

The fax will not have a mailbox. Only valid when Email is the sole destination type

Any other value

The selected mailbox will be assigned to the fax account

Note

You can assign a user’s mailbox to be used for their own fax service if you so desire.

Notification Email

An email address (or addresses) that will receive a notification of a new fax, but not its contents. This does not contain any PHI. You will need to view the fax from the portal or mobile app.

  • Multiple email addresses can be separated by commas

Notify of failure

The notification email will receive an email when a fax fails to be sent or received. The notification will contain as much information as we could collect about the failure.
